Job Overview:

The Project Engineer will support and drive all phases of construction projects, from planning through execution, ensuring that MZN’s high standards of quality, safety, and integrity are achieved. This role requires strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Assist in planning, scheduling, and managing construction activities to ensure timely and efficient project delivery. Support project managers and superintendents with short-interval planning, look-ahead schedules, and coordination of field operations. Participate in jobsite walks to verify progress and support subcontractor coordination and performance. 

  • Trustworthy Communication: Maintain transparent and consistent communication with clients, subcontractors, and team members. Prepare and distribute accurate project documentation, reports, and updates, ensuring timely information flow and alignment across project stakeholders. 

  • Mindful Problem-Solving: Approach project challenges with foresight and careful consideration of impacts to schedule, cost, and quality. Support identification and resolution of field and coordination issues while maintaining positive working relationships and project momentum. 

  • Collaboration: Bring enthusiasm and commitment to project teams, contributing ideas and support during coordination meetings, planning sessions, and field activities. Foster teamwork and a solutions-oriented mindset while supporting collaboration between project management, field teams, and trade partners. 

  • Quality & Safety Assurance: Support quality and safety efforts by participating in jobsite walks, verifying work-in-place against project requirements, and assisting with punch lists and closeout activities. Monitor compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and safety standards. 

  • Financial & Document Control: Assist with tracking project budgets, cost reports, and change order documentation. Prepare, review, and track RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and logs, coordinating timely responses with design teams and subcontractors. Support quantity verification, material tracking, and delivery coordination to align field needs with project schedules. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in construction project engineering or a similar role. 

  • High School diploma; years experience or successful completion of an apprenticeship may be considered in lieu of diploma. 

  • Solid understanding of commercial construction means and methods, materials, and jobsite safety requirements. 

  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills. 

  • Proficiency in construction management software such as MS Project, Procore, Prolog, or Primavera. 

  • Conscientious with great attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.   

  • 5 years of experience in construction project engineering.

Work Arrangement & Schedule:

  • 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday
