Job Overview:
The Construction Foreman will lead and supervise field operations, ensuring that construction projects are completed safely, efficiently, and with the highest quality. This role requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to direct and motivate crews while maintaining strong relationships with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Supervision: Direct and coordinate daily on-site activities, including work sequencing and crew assignments, ensuring work is performed according to plans, specifications, and safety requirements. Supervise crews and subcontractors to maintain productivity, support milestone completion, and deliver quality workmanship on schedule.
Trustworthy Leadership: Maintain open and honest communication with the project team, subcontractors, and clients. Provide accurate field insight, escalate constraints or issues early, and lead by example to build confidence and trust through reliable actions and decisions.
Mindful Decision-Making: Evaluate worksite challenges and resolve issues promptly, exercising sound judgment in work sequencing, manpower allocation, and site logistics while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and long-term outcomes. Maintain awareness of crew dynamics, promoting respect and collaboration on site.
Team Development: Provide mentorship, onboarding, and hands-on training for new and developing team members, encouraging continuous improvement, accountability, and a strong work ethic while inspiring pride in workmanship and excellence in the field.
Quality & Safety Assurance: Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with company standards, building codes, and safety regulations. Take first-line responsibility for field quality control, promptly correct nonconforming work, and lead daily safety practices while holding team members accountable to best practices.
Resource & Schedule Management: Coordinate equipment, materials, and labor to maximize productivity. Collaborate on short-term planning and look-ahead schedules, identify and communicate resource constraints early, and support timely completion of project milestones.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; equivalent combination of education and field experience considered.
5 years of HCAI construction experience.
Demonstrated responsibility for leading crews or scopes of work on regulated or institutional projects.
Strong knowledge of commercial construction means and methods, materials, and jobsite safety requirements.
Proven ability to lead and manage crews, set clear expectations, and promote teamwork while maintaining accountability for performance and workmanship.
Effective communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate field activities, resolve issues proactively, and communicate constraints or risks in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
Construction-related technical training or certification preferred.
Experience on commercial, institutional, or complex construction projects, preferably within regulated environments.
OSHA certification (e.g., OSHA 30) or equivalent safety training preferred.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
